Principals rave about their ARTSHINE/Arts4all programs!
Our students who participate in Artshine LOVE it and cannot wait for the next project. They enjoy having the chance to do arts and crafts and produce something that they are proud of. Students in Artshine, often share with me their art projects with big smiles and pride. I am glad to be able to offer this opportunity for the students of St. Daniel. You are flexible where and when it happens for our school community. There is NEVER a mess behind and the staff who come are respectful and honour our school community.
Lorrie Temple, Principal, St. Daniel Catholic Elementary School, Kitchener, ON
Artshine is a great program that allows students the opportunity to express their creativity in a forum where an experienced instructor can facilitate an environment that offers a balance of both inquiry learning and guided instruction. Moreover, the program is offered to schools with subsidized opportunities for students and families that may not be able to afford an Art program for their children within their community. As a school, we want to see equal opportunities for every student that enters our building, and Artshine works hard to make sure happens!
Todd D. Goodwin, Principal, St. Joseph Catholic School, Fergus
The program is great in that it for all ages. I also appreciate that you sponsor students who may not be able to afford the after school program. The students learn simple techniques that they can replicate at home. Everyone’s work is unique and different. Every child comes away feeling like they are an artist and have created a masterpiece!
Alison Golding, Principal, Holly Meadows Elementary School, Barrie, ON
Our students really enjoy Artshine. It has been a positive, worthwhile experience for many.
Brian Weigel, Principal, King Edward Public School, Kitchener, ON

Students literally expand upon their creative thoughts and put them into action through the well-planned and organized activities, materials and guidance provided by the kind and caring staff. Our school and community has definitely benefited from this highly engaging program and the students are filled with confidence and enthusiasm!" We do enjoy having the program in our community and it is very well received by all.
Trish Starodub, Principal, Millen Woods P.S., Waterloo, ON
We love having Artshine as part of our after-school culture. It taps into children's creative energy and spirit. I love when children excitedly show and share with me what the night before's art adventure has been. It brings a smile to their faces as well as mine! It's a lovely venue in which children can express themselves!
Christy Webster, Principal, Sheppard PS, Kitchener, ON
Artshine continues to provide opportunities for all students to be creative and have fun in an atmosphere that is inclusive, diverse and welcoming. Artshine eliminates the barriers that inhibit children from growing and developing their creative talents.

What Artshine/Arts4all Offers
|
Artshine/Arts4all reflects the elementary curriculum
Every Artshine project strives to work with the same fundamental concepts within the elementary arts curriculum. After a student completes a session of Artshine curriculum (typically 6-8 classes) they will leave with a better understanding of: The Creative Process Our curriculum encourages students to use their imagination, put thought into preliminary rough work (2-Day projects), and experiment and practice with new mediums (paint, pastels, etc). The Critical Analysis Process Our curriculum explores not only Canadian Art, but also focuses on Native Art and “Art Around the World.” This helps students with the critical analysis process as it encourages students to; Work through new emotions, form new opinions, and analyze their OWN multicultural piece of art. The Principles and Elements of Design In each of our “Instructional Guides” we provide a list of all the different principles and/or elements of design used in the specific project. Every instructor uses these terms with the students to form an educated vocabulary throughout their Artshine session. We work with the categories of knowledge and skills (Knowledge/Understanding, Thinking, Communication and Application) to help the students work within the same criteria as the elementary curriculum for a seamless transition between class time and Artshine time! |
